Dr Shelley Ann F. De La Vega

Dr. Shelley de la Vega is Professor 9 of the Department of Medicine, University of the Philippines College of Medicine and founding Director of the Institute on Aging, University of the Philippines Manila – National Institutes of Health (IA-NIH). She was a Director of the Institute of Health Policy and Development Studies National Institutes of Health 2011–2013.

She completed her BS Psychology, Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the UP Manila. She trained in Internal Medicine and was Chief Resident at the State University of New York, Downstate Brooklyn; and Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the Division on Aging, Harvard Medical School. She received her board certificate in Internal and Geriatric Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Her pioneering works include: founding President of Philippine College of Geriatric Medicine; President of the Philippine Society of Geriatric Medicine; Director, Center of Healthy Aging and Chief, Section of Geriatrics, The Medical City. She established the Geriatric Multidisciplinary Outpatient Clinic at the Philippine General Hospital.

She has published local and international journal articles, book chapters, monographs, training manuals as well as policy documents on Geriatrics, Dementia, and Healthy Aging. https://scholar.google.com.ph/citations?user=M4b10rsAAAAJ&hl=en

She is a well-sought trainer and speaker to medical, nursing and allied professional societies in the Philippines. She assists the Department of Health, DSWD, WHO, FNRI and various NGOs as technical consultant.
