Digital Confidence for Seniors: Spotting Scams and Staying Secured
Abstract
In today’s increasingly connected world, older adults are more vulnerable to online scams, fraud, and cyber threats. This session titled “Digital Confidence for Seniors: Spotting Scams and Staying Secured”, aims to empower seniors with the knowledge and practical skills needed to navigate the digital landscape safely and confidently. Participants will learn how to recognize common online scams such as phishing emails, fraudulent messages, and deceptive calls, and adopt simple yet effective cybersecurity practices.
The session will also cover password hygiene, secure browsing habits, and ways to safeguard personal information across devices. With real-life examples, interactive demonstrations, and a focus on accessibility, this talk will help seniors build trust in digital tools while maintaining control over their online presence. We will aim to promote independence, safety, and active participation in the digital age.
